I am a thirty four year old male. I started losing my hair when I was in my early twenties. In the beginning I didn’t notice (or wanted to accept) that my hair was thinning until one day my friends pointed out to me that I was losing my hair. Only then I decided that I had to do something.

However, here comes the sad part the hair that I gain during treatment were starting to fall off. In a few months, I was again losing hair.

I was in a dilemma, should I gain hair back or lose my manhood. I definitely didn’t want to be lion king without the roar.

Saw palmetto is extracted from naturally occurring plant, serenoa repens. More commonly saw palmetto is used as a supplement for Prostrate Health. It is suggested that saw palmeto is able to block some effects of testosterone hence, similar to the way Popecia treats hairloss. The possible side effects of saw palmetto are stomach upset (I solved this by taking it with food). For those with stomach, liver, heart, and lung conditions it is definitely not advisable to take saw palmetto. Another of saw palmetto’s side effect is increase or decrease sex drive, however, there is still lack of research data in this area. So far saw palmeto also has seen its uses in bodybuilding supplementation. Hence, I thought it was fine and yes after using it for about two years, I am still well and fine (the lion is still ready to roar!).

There is however, one down side of Provillus. You have to continue using it like I shared with you it is a treatment not a cure. Once you stop you may lose your hair that you gain while using Provillus. Oh yes, just like all hairloss treatments, it takes about three to six months before you can tell the effects.

It took me about into 2 months with religious application of Provillus monoxidil and taking of Provillus supplement before I saw results. Price wise it is definitely cheaper than Propecia or Rogaine (the brand that popularized the use of Monoxidil). It is still somewhat pricey but I understood that I am paying for a special strong blend of supplements and FDA approved treatment. What to do? I am not ready to go bald so soon. I am willing to do what it takes to keep what I have and grow a little if any.

However, saw palmeto has not been approved by FDA as a treatment for hairloss. Saw palmetto is currently used as all natural herbal, nutritional supplement for hairloss. FDA currently does not strictly regulate supplements. Big supplement companies such as Procerin and Provillus are some of those companies that strongly believe that saw palmetto is the answer to hairloss.
